KM Counselling is located in NW Calgary, just a bit northwest of the University of Calgary. We provide one-on-one counselling services with a Registered Psychologist. We are very flexible when it comes to how the counselling process takes place. We offer in-person one-to-one counselling in NW Calgary, telephone counselling, as well as virtual counselling appointments. We are here to help.

Looking for the privacy and one-to-one focus of individual counselling? KM Counselling provides individual counselling that is custom-built with a focus on your challenges, strengths, and goals. KM Counselling is specialized in working with adults and teens ages 13-and-up with a variety of mental health concerns. You will be an active participant throughout the therapy process where you will work with a Registered Psychologist to co-develop your goals and path towards meaningful change.

Questions as you Prepare for Counselling

Is it normal to feel anxious before my first appointment?

Yes! Reaching out for support can feel difficult and stressful because it requires opening up to a mental health professional that you likely have not met before.  This vulnerability can feel like a big risk that takes bravery. Just know that most people report a sense of relief and hope after taking that first step and our therapists are dedicated to creating a safe and trusting space.

How should I prepare for my first appointment?

Whether you have booked an appointment for individual, couples, or family counselling, there are a few things that you can do to prepare for your first session. It can be helpful to consider what you hope to gain from therapy. Although it is not necessary to have a clear goal as this is something that can be developed with the therapist. It can also be helpful to arrive with enough time to get to the office without feeling rushed or if you are connecting virtually, prepare enough time to check that your technology is working correctly. Many people also find it helpful to schedule time to reflect on any thoughts and feelings that came up during the appointment following the session. Last, it is important to remember that there are no wrong questions in counselling, so throughout the session feel free to ask any question you may be curious about.

When you contact us to book an appointment you will be asked for some intake information and you can inquire about your preferred booking dates/times. Once your appointment is booked you will get a confirmation email.
